Frederick Archie Fleet was born in Fordham on October 16th 1919 (Newmarket Q4-1919 3B:855), baptised on 9th January 1932 in Fordham, son of John William and Kate FLEET (née BARTON), of 4 Murfitt's Lane, Fordham.


In 1939 his father,a farm labourer[7-8-1875] and mother [22-2-1871} and brother William D a farm labourer[16-6-1918] were at 4 Mildenhall Road, Fordham.(1 closed record)


The East Anglian contingents, 4th and 5th Suffolk together with the 1st and 2nd Cambridgeshire and 4th and 5th Norfolks were among the last to surrender in Singapore on the 15 February 1942. Fighting together in the Adams Park, Braddell Road area they were even seeking permission to launch counter attacks.
He was taken overland to work on the Siam-Burma Railway on 27th April 1943 and died on the railway, of colitis.
